Q. Where do I start in finding new people?

It all starts with your profile. Use the Search facility to find people based on the keywords you think they might have included; try interests, hobbies and values. If you're looking for love in your area, use your town as a search term. We'll find people who match the search terms you specify, so you can find the right person more quickly than you think. In addition, we'll compare your profile to those of other users, and suggest the people we think you'll enjoy chemistry with. Don't forget, though, that you need to tell the Dating in Places community about yourself, so you need to include as much information in your profile as possible. Introduce yourself, upload pictures, add travel plans... there are all sorts of ways to make yourself look great to prospective dates, so don't be shy!

Q. I've found someone I'd like to get to know. How do I make contact?

Getting in touch with new dates is a simple two-step process. First of all, you need to request contact with a new person; we'll tell them that they've caught your eye, and give them a chance to look at your profile. If they're interested in getting to know you, they can agree to get in touch, at which point you'll be able to contact them directly. Similarly, if someone wants to chat with you, we'll drop you a line to let you know. You can then check out their profile, and if there's a spark there, you're just a single click away from activating the contact. When you've approved the contact, your new date will be added to your Active Contacts list which you can access from your profile. Your details will also be added to theirs. At this point, you'll be able to access each others' email addresses, allowing you to chat, flirt and make arrangements at your own pace.

Q. How safe is it?

Like any dating site, we at Dating in Places take your safety very seriously. To this end we've created a Safety Tips page with some useful pointers on how to feel comfortable on a date. Every situation is different, and you'll have to exercise good judgement and common sense when you meet a date, but our tips will give you a good head-start.

Q. Can you help me to make travel arrangements?

While we're passionate about bringing people together, unfortunately we don't have the facility to help you book travel tickets. But why not ask your date? They're sure to be able to offer some advice – remember, love will always find a way!
